“You’ve killed God, sir. You’ve killed God,” says Thomas Huxley to Charles Darwin in 1858. Yes, that is what many believe ever since the publication of On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection in 1859. The Christian faith has suffered dramatically because of this lie, apologists have become more common, and society as a whole has become lost because of one man’s disproved theories.
A man who deserted the faith, was pretty close to mentally insane, was agoraphobic for most of his life, and treated his wife and children like kids their entire lives is the man who started the whole evolution shipwreck. It has been said that he had become so lethargic, depressed and dispirited that he kept electrocuting himself in the mistaken belief it would heighten his mood. He stated a good amount of evidence against evolution in his own book and said, "If it could be demonstrated that any complex organ existed which could not possibly have been formed by numerous, successive, slight modifications, my theory would absolutely break down." In layman’s terms, he was saying that if cells were proven to be more complex than believed at that time, his theory would not be valid. Thanks to the invention of the microscope, that has been proven and Darwin’s theory has been debunked.
The Theory of Evolution shows us many things. One thing it puts into light is how stubborn scientists are. Darwin himself acknowledged that the church is what kept society afloat in his time. He was reluctant to “kill God” because he cared about society. Modern scientists are just like Darwin in this way: They don’t want to stop believing in evolution, because that would upset society. If they actually admitted their lack of evidence for their theory, America might actually turn back to God! They don’t want that. Intelligent design must be disregarded and all must believe in chance, fate, destiny, etc.
If evolutionary thought took place as scientists claim it has in the past, then we would approve of some horrible things. Perhaps scientists suggested killing all children who were not healthy and choosing who should “mate” with who, so as to create superior humans; according to evolution, this is only natural! But we have consciences. I wonder where those came from? Oh, well I suppose that God did create us? Yes! He created us in His image and we are to give Him all the glory for that. He gave our bodies the ability to heal and reproduce. He gave us emotions and a conscience, all to glorify Him with. He created the basic species that we see today with the ability to adapt to their surroundings, but not to completely change form. He created the Laws of Gravity, Thermodynamics, Light, and much more! He created things we haven’t even discovered yet.
Sure, there was a “big bang”. God said, “Let there be light,” and BANG! there was light. Sure, animals adapt to their surroundings. God created the animals after their own kind, but with adapting abilities. Science should never be what one places his faith on. How many “smart” men have died believing in spontaneous generation, that the sun revolves around the earth, and many more disproved facts? Look into the facts and see for yourself. Don’t die uniformed, because I can guarantee you’ll regret it.
